2018 Seniors Card Discount Directory

A MESSAGE FROM THE PREMIER This 2018 edition of the Seniors Card Discount Directory, Your Lifestyle Guide , is full of potential benefits and opportunities. Within these pages readers will find discounts, special offers and valuable information – all provided by local businesses that have chosen to generously extend their support to more than 370,000 Seniors Card members across the State. Older people make a significant contribution to their families, communities and the economy, and they immeasurably add to the richness of society through their skills, experience and good works. The State Government recognises this, and it both celebrates and rewards older South Australians through the Seniors Card program. Members are making the very most of the program, with more seniors than ever before using the card to access free public transport. South Australia is a great place to live, work, visit and do business, and we want to keep it that way. Last year – following our Statewide Conversation with Older South Australians – my Government released the Age-Friendly SA Strategy. This document outlines our determination to ensure that the services we provide and the communities we build – plus the State as a whole – are welcoming and friendly to people of all ages. One of the best ways of breaking down the barriers of social isolation and loneliness is by providing opportunities for engagement with the world around us. In its own way, this year’s Seniors Card Discount Directory – in addition to the fortnightly digital magazine WeekendPlus – does exactly that. It provides ideas and ways for seniors to save money, to obtain information, to be active and socially connected, and to enjoy the best of what our great State has to offer. I encourage people to subscribe to WeekendPlus (by sending an email to seniorscard@sa.gov.au) to receive up-to-date information on discounts, special offers, competitions and events. It is never too late to try something new or learn a new skill. Through the Lens, the annual Seniors Card photographic competition and exhibition, proves that point. Hundreds of people submitted their best photos in last year’s competition, some entering for the first time. Congratulations to the finalists and winners – their amazing photos showed us all that creativity is never bound by age. I encourage all older South Australians to take advantage of the valuable benefits and the very useful resources contained in this 2018 Seniors Card Discount Directory.
