From Cannes Film Festival winners to global hits, Silverscreen daytime screenings welcomes old and new film lovers for conversation, connection and complimentary morning and afternoon tea each week.

Running for over 13 years, and unique to the Mercury Cinema, Silverscreen is a curated program of award winning, entertaining and intelligent cinema from around the world, presented along with insightful talks, interviews and meet-the-filmmaker sessions all year round.

Presented with the support of Office for Ageing Well, Adelaide City Council and Retire Australia. Screenings are offered on Tuesday’s and Friday’s at 10:30am and 2:00pm.

Existing patrons have been asked what they loved about Silverscreen and this is just some of what they shared.

"It's always nice to meet new like-minded people and catch up with friends to share affordable entertainment together."

"I like that all of the patrons feel a sort of bond with each other, because of our shared love of film."

"It's a comforting feeling there’s lots of chatting between groups of people who don't know each other, offering each other a chair, to get coffee for someone with mobility problems etc.”

“I have met up with friends whom I usually see only infrequently, because of our shared love of good cinema, and have strengthened friendships with people who were only acquaintances before.”

"It's a nice atmosphere, the complimentary tea, coffee and biscuits make a HUGE difference to the events, in terms of encouraging relaxed conversation.“
