Australia’s largest free literary festival returns in 2025, offering both writers and readers a unique opportunity to spend six days sharing ideas and literary explorations in the heart of Adelaide.

With support from the Office for Ageing Well and Seniors Card, Writers’ Week is offering four days of the best writers, thinkers and philosophers direct to your door in live streamed sessions from the East Stage to libraries, community centre and retirement villages across the state. Adelaide Writers’ Week is a highlight of the Adelaide Festival and is regarded as one of the world’s most significant writers’ festivals. It provides six days of public readings, talks and discussions with writers from around Australia and the world. The event is held in the historic Pioneer Women's Memorial Garden and is FREE to the public.

In March 2025, novelists, poets and writers from across the world once again join us to reflect on the lessons of history, make sense of the present moment and imagine a future that just might hold the promise of hope. The issues writers lay bare for us are both universal and specific to this time and place.
