After a sold-out season in Singapore, actress and comedian Koh Chieng Mun (Under One Roof, Crazy Rich Asians) is getting ready to play the lead role in hit dinner-theatre show, Por Por’s Big Fat Surprise Wedding, at OzAsia Festival this November.

A hilarious, interactive performance, audience members are invited to be 70-year-old Por Por’s wedding guests – where her groom is a mystery to all, including her bewildered family!

Adelaide audiences can look forward to a four-course culinary feast and glass of sparkling wine, included in the ticket price. This is one wedding you won’t want to miss!

Q.   Por Por’s Big Fat Surprise Wedding was well received in Singapore with an extended, sold-out run. What can Adelaide audiences expect from the show?

A.   As friends of Por Por, you are just so happy that Por Por has found happiness again at 70! You think it's going to be a sweet, lovely wedding but get ready for an evening of surprises and participation in family feuds where your opinion matters. There's also fun entertainment, romantic moments, karaoke, dancing, and twists and turns in the event all the time. Never a dull moment being at Por Por's wedding. Have a ball, Adelaide! Enjoy the wonderful food too!

Q.   As a dinner theatre performance, have audiences been eager to participate in the show? What is your favourite moment in the show?

A.   Everyone at the wedding is engaged fully from the start, ready to give their wedding wishes to their beloved friend, Por Por, and her mystery groom. My favourite part of the evening is when everyone rises to their feet at the end, singing and dancing in celebration of love.

Q.   Your OzAsia Festival performance will be an Australian exclusive – will this be your first time in Australia?

A.   This is my maiden voyage to your beautiful country, Australia, to perform on stage at Adelaide's OzAsia Festival. Australian audiences may be familiar with a series called Under One Roof, where I played Dolly. The series was on SBS for several years some time ago, but this time round, I am up close and personal with you, so I am really looking forward to seeing you at OzAsia Festival.

Q.   What have you been working on since audiences saw you in Crazy Rich Asians?

A.   During the COVID years, my drama work was mainly in drama series for streaming which picked up after 2022. Then there was Por Por in 2023. I have also been putting together teaching courses for screen acting skills for schools and corporations.

Q.   You recently studied culinary arts – how does it feel to star in a production that combines your love of food with your love of theatre?

A.   I feel right at home because I have the chance to ask, "How do you like the food?" I also have the chance to do food tasting and meet the Chef. During the show, I feel very confident in answering any questions the guests have about the food, which makes Por Por come off as a true-blue foodie.
