When we came up with the idea for Illuminate Adelaide over six years ago, we could sense a gap in the events calendar and knew people were used to going into hibernation over wintertime. As co-founders and creative directors of the major event, we have a love for art, light, music, and technology, and knew we could give something Adelaide was calling for. Now six years in, Illuminate Adelaide has continued to grow and evolve, making the 2026 edition the biggest yet.

This year, we’re introducing Augmented Games presented by RAA – an Australian first and Adelaide exclusive large scale immersive game by Moment Factory. From the after-dark light, laser and projection spectacle Night Visions – which is a go-at-your-own pace walk through the Botanic Gardens – to the interactive journey through a magical underwater garden with Digital Abyss, there’s programs for every type of eventgoer. To the family-friendly Adelaide Zoo event where dinosaurs and woolly mammoths come to life through large scale puppetry during Universal Kingdom: Ice Age, to the free and accessible City Lights program where buildings and areas light up the CBD, to the experimental and electronic music program, we’ve made sure there’s something for everyone this Illuminate Adelaide time, including Seniors Sessions which are taken at a slower pace.
