The Retirement Villages (Miscellaneous) Amendment Act 2024 will commence in South Australia on 2 February 2026. To help residents understand these changes, the Office for Ageing Well’s Retirement Village Unit will be hosting a series of information sessions across metropolitan Adelaide during January.

Regional information sessions were held in November and December 2025 and well attended.

The updated reforms will strengthen consumer protections for both current and future retirement village residents while continuing to promote a vibrant, diverse and innovative sector. They are the result of extensive public consultation with residents, prospective residents, the retirement village sector, and a thorough parliamentary process.
