The Cost of Living Concession provides important support for eligible South Australians, helping older South Australians manage the rising cost of everyday living.

This year, around 220,000 South Australians on low incomes received their annual Cost of Living Concession payment, with $270.60 paid directly into eligible customers' bank accounts during August. Since 2022, more than $350 million has been delivered through the program to help households across the state.
The concession is designed to ease pressure on household budgets by helping with essential costs. In addition to the annual Cost of Living Concession payment, eligible South Australians may also be able to access concessions on electricity, water, wastewater and the Emergency Services Levy, reducing the amount they need to pay for key household expenses.
Unlike bill-based concessions, the Cost of Living Concession is paid directly into a customer's bank account once a year and can be used towards everyday expenses such as food, petrol, internet costs and other household necessities.
Many Seniors Card members may already be eligible for assistance through concessions if they hold an eligible concession card or receive payments from Centrelink or the Department of Veterans' Affairs. Applying is simple and can be completed online through a single application form.
Concessions SA has launched a new animated video that explains the different household concessions available, who may be eligible and how to apply. The video also outlines the information needed to complete an application, including concession card details, electricity and water bills, and bank account information.
Seniors Card members already receiving concessions are encouraged to ensure their details remain up to date, particularly if they have changed address, switched electricity providers or updated their banking information.
If you're unsure whether you qualify, now is a great time to check. With support available for household bills and an annual payment to help with everyday costs, concessions can make a meaningful difference to eligible seniors and help them make their money go further.
