Thirty years ago on International Women’s Day on 8 March, leaders from 189 countries and over 30,000 activists came together to create the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action, a ground-breaking global roadmap for achieving equal rights for women and girls.

To celebrate this milestone and continue the march forward for equality for women and girls, South Australia will be hosting its inaugural Women’s Week. SA Women’s Week will run from 1-8 March culminating in International Women’s Day on Saturday 8 March.
This year’s International Women’s Day theme March Forward seeks to turn promises into progress for all women and girls.
SA Women’s Week will showcase and celebrate the contribution women and girls have made to South Australia. It is an opportunity to also reflect on what still needs to be done to create a society where women and girls can equally and actively participate in the economy and all aspects of community life.
The Office for Women is hosting a SA Women’s Week calendar on their website which will include details of events being held across the state by a range of businesses, organisations and community groups. Whether you are hosting an event or hoping to attend one there are many options for you to get involved. You can register or find an event on the website.
The Adelaide Fringe will also be supporting the inaugural SA Women’s Week by offering discounted tickets to women led shows. To help celebrate SA Women’s Week you can get $10 off a range of South Australian women-led shows during 1-8 March, made possible by the Office for Women. These discounted tickets have been handpicked by the Office for Women and can be found on the Adelaide Fringe website under Office for Women - SA Women’s Week Picks.
