A thoughtfully creative portrait has won the top prize in the 2024 Seniors Card Through the Lens photographic competition.

Judge's Choice Award - Dennis Kraayenbrink - A Medievalesque quasi-European portrait with a modern twist.

The image titled ‘A Medievalesque quasi-European portrait with a modern twist’ was taken by Seniors Card member, Dennis Kraayenbrink, who enjoys carefully composing portraits with everyday items as props.

Interesting lighting and a sombre expression in the eyes of the male subject, set the picture apart, with closer inspection providing a surprisingly different impression.

Judges’ chose the winner from over 780 images as the Judge’s Choice for 2024.

Judge Lance Peters representing Diamonds Camera, Video and Digital said ‘the use of everyday items to create a portrait in which the items blend into the mood and emotion of the image without appearing to be out of place or contrived is nothing short of genius. Congratulation Dennis!’
