As the first generation of ‘out’ Australians, it is more important than ever for older gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender people to have a voice at Better Together, Australia’s national Rainbow Community Conference.
This is why The Equality Project has made discounted tickets available for Seniors Card members, to reduce the barriers to entry for those who continue to be our pioneers.
You will be the first generation to enter into aged care, hospitals and other systems in significant numbers as out gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender people. It is important that you have the chance to come together, meet one another, and talk about what you want from this next phase of your life. To be heard, and to hear from others.
At this year’s conference, in Adelaide on 31 October and 1 November, listen to a panel on what’s changed in the 50 years since decriminalisation in SA, and on Ageing with Pride in SA. Join in workshops like the ‘Community Consultation: Have your voice heard in the future of aged care for LGBTI+ older adults’, or ‘Intergenerational Housing Options for the LGBTIQA+ Community: What would truly inclusive, community-led housing options look like for older LGBTIQA+ people?’. And, if you just want to have some fun, the Handy Lesbians workshop will introduce you to your next favourite hands-on hobby.
Join Better Together in Adelaide on 31 October and 1 November and be part of this grassroots conference.
