A new research project supported by Office for Ageing Well has produced a series of short videos designed to reduce ageism, promote connections between different age groups, and build stronger communities. The project is a unique partnership between researchers from the Flinders Generations Research Initiative, and filmmaker A/Prof Tom Young from the Flinders Creative Arts team.

According to Professor Tim Windsor, “this project gave us a great opportunity to engage with older and younger people to develop messages celebrating what people of all ages have to offer, and how we can build stronger communities by working together”

The team plans to make the videos freely available for use in social media and public awareness campaigns, and as educational tools. But first, they are inviting feedback on the videos from readers of WeekendPlus.

If you would like to watch a short video (around 3 minutes), and provide your feedback by 10 November 2025, please use this link to access the video, and answer some brief questions. Watching the video and responding to the survey should take no more than about 10 minutes.

If you are interested in watching one or more of the videos, but don’t wish to provide feedback via the survey, you can watch the videos here.

This project has been approved by Flinders University’s Human Research Ethics Committee (HREC Project Number 8969). The research team will provide a summary of the feedback received in a future issue of WeekendPlus.

The project was supported by a 2024-2025 Impact Research Grant for Ageing Well.
