ANFE Community Care is delighted to present its Wise Older Wonderful – WOW initiative, a social activity group that is busting the myths of ageing and helping support good health practices as members of the community age.

Maintaining good health while growing older is based on many factors including feeling good about yourself, feeling productive and valuable to your community, connecting with friends and maintaining an active body and mind.

ANFE Community Care is an aged care and disability support provider offering group activities tailored to help combat social isolation. The WOW Group merges sharing cultures with group activities to promote social health, interaction and learning amongst older members of the community.

Taking a chance to step outside your comfort zone and meet new people can sometimes be daunting; however, ANFE Community Care takes the stress out of new experiences with a schedule of new activities each week.

Activities include:

  • Gentle exercises
  • Meditation
  • Indoor bowls
  • Learning about other cultures and sampling some delicious cooking
  • Participating in quizzes and trivia to activate minds
  • Drawing, painting, pottery and other arts and craft
  • Learning about important topics such as wills, home security alarm system, and rights and responsibilities from qualified presenters

The WOW Group* operates from the Broadview Uniting Church (corner of Galway Avenue and Collingrove Avenue) every Thursday from 9.00am-12.00pm.

*ANFE Community Care’s WOW Group is supported by the Australian Government Department of Health and Aged Care. Registration with My Aged Care and a referral are required to access it.
